PlayStation Classics support coming to PS Vita with Firmware 1.8 update

PlayStation Classics could be arriving on Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld sometime this summer.

We still don't have an official date, but according to Sony (via Andriasang), the PlayStation Vita firmware update 1.8 will add support for PS Classics. This firmware update is expected to arrive some time during the summer.

PS Classics are something fans and Vita owners have been asking for since the release of the system. Many were hoping Sony would make some kind of announcement during their E3 briefing, but the company decided to keep the Vita announcements to a minimal in order to keep their presentation short.

“We could have spent more time talking about those," admitted Sony's Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida of the 25 playable Vita games on the E3 show floor.

Sony didn't completely ignore the Vita, however. They did announce a new Assassin's Creed title for the Vita, as well as cross-play support for upcoming brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
