PlayStation Now beta arrives on PS Vita, PS TV

Open beta for Sony's video game streaming rental service PlayStation Now launches today for the PlayStation Vita as well as the newly released PlayStation TV micro-console.

Though technically labeled an open beta, PS Now will offer PS TV and Vita owners selection of over 150 PS3 games. To play these games, all you'll need is a "steady" broadband internet connection ranging between 5-12 Mbps, a SEN account, and a DualShock 3 or DualShock 4 controller.

"Our vision for PS Now is to make it possible for more people than ever to have quick and easy access to PS3 games, making it as easy to stream these games as it is to stream TV, movies, and music," Sony's Director of Marketing Peter Majshidi said.

"PS Vita is an important part of that vision, as you’ll be able to rent a game on one device, like PS4, then continue playing on your PS Vita or vice versa. That’s possible because of our cloud technology, which lets you play select PS3 games from our library of over 150 PS Now titles including God of War: Ascension on both a home console and a handheld device without the need for game downloads, installs, or patches."

PlayStation Now rentals offer players all the same features as if you were to purchase the full game, including multiplayer for games that offer it and the ability to save games via Sony's cloud storage system.

To get access to the PS Now Open Beta, you’ll need to download the PS Now app from PlayStation Store.
