Sony has announced a temporary addition to the PlayStation Now subscription service with a new pricing level of $99 for a 1-year membership. It comes in at 44.5% price reduction to the next cheapest plan of three months for $45. According to Sony, it will only be a temporary plan, but they have not elaborated on a specific time frame.
The service, which allows you to rent and stream PS3 games directly to your PS4 (or PlayStation Now-supported device) without having to download them first, has also received some more games from Warner Bros. A total of nine games including Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham Origins, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Mortal Kombat, FEAR, Lego Movie Videogame, Lego Harry Potter Year 1-4, Lego Harry Potter: Year 5-7, Lego Batman: The Videogame and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes are all available beginning tomorrow, December 8th, when the new plan goes live.
Although temporary, it will be nice to see Sony add this as a permanent option. With such a high discount it will most likely attract a number of new customers to the program which has been lacking of late. If the numbers maintain a steady stream, hopefully Sony will continue to offer the pricing option in the future. What are your thoughts on this new level? Has it convinced you to try it out?
