The past couple of months have been filled with Crash Bandicoot rumors and teases, may it be PlayStation's boss, Shawn Layden, wearing a Crash t-shirt, toy companies leaking out information, or voice actors asked to return — which ultimately means fans are up to here with the emotion rollercoaster.
And it seems Sony is enjoying it all. Recently asked on twitter by a PlayStation fan, Adam Boyes — VP of Publisher relations over at Sony, reaffirmed that Activision still holds the rights to the Crash series:
Activision holding the rights to Crash Bandicoot means that Sony won't be able to have a 1st party develop the revival of the game nor have it exclusive to their console. However, in the past couple of years, Sony, and Activision have been getting along pretty well with games like Destiny & Call of Duty. So who knows how the behind door negotiations are going/went.
Insiders close to Sony and Activision have suggested that Crash will be staging a comeback during E3 2016. In addition to that, rumors say that the game has been in talks/development for 6 to 12 months.
The Crash community is leaning towards the belief that game having been teased by Naughty Dog (like they teased Uncharted in The Last of Us) in the Crash Bandicoot easter egg in Uncharted 4, but this has not been confirmed.
