PlayStation Vue, Sony's cloud-based television service, launched today in Chicago, New York City and Philadelphia for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. For those unfamiliar, PS Vue allows users to stream live TV and on-demand TV without a cable or satellite subscription.
The TV service will allow users to DVR shows with no programming conflicts and will store the episodes for 28 days. There will be no contracts as it will work on a month-to-month subscription — similar to Netflix.To subscribe to PS Vue you need a PS4 or a PS3 with internet access and a PlayStation Network account with a valid credit card and address.
The drawback to the service? You can only use it from the your home network, you won't be able to log onto to PS Vue with your credentials from a friend's console. Also, the base package is $49.99. While this is probably cheaper than your cable package, Sling TV's base package is $20; although, has a lot less channels.
