PlayStation will hold Nintendo Direct-like event next week for upcoming games

People were understandably shocked when PlayStation announced they had no plans to attend E3 this year for the first time in decades. Add to the fact they’ve been very quiet regarding expected 2019/2020 titles like Death Stranding and The Last of Us Part 2, people began to get very worried about when we’d see these games.

Fear not, though, as it looks like PlayStation may be giving us some news regarding these titles and announcing others on Monday, March 25th via a live stream called “State of Play”. While the blog post from Sony doesn’t specifically note what games will appear, they note the stream will focus around upcoming PS4 and PSVR games.

The event will be at 2 PM PST on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter with a VOD upload afterward. This will not be the last State of Play, though. PlayStation notes that State of Play will be an ongoing series of streams throughout the year to provide updates on their titles. So, if we don’t see The Last of Us Part 2, Death Stranding, or Ghost of Tsushima on Monday, there’s a high chance they’ll pop up later in the year.

Does this mean Sony will once again skip PSX this year and perhaps dump E3 entirely in favor of just doing a pre-recorded State of Play? It’s very possible, Nintendo has been doing these events for years and it has paid off for them tremendously.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted on whatever news flows out of next week’s State of Play.
