Report: PlayStation’s third-party relations boss out after just one year

PlayStation’s run with third-party software this console generation has been pretty fantastic, but they are about to have their third head of third-party developer relations in just under two years. Florian Hunziker has told GamesBeat that he plans to leave the company after taking the job only one year ago.

Hunziker replaced the personable Adam Boyes, who left to become the CEO of current Killer Instinct developers, Iron Galaxy Studios. Sony hasn’t made an official announcement of the departure, but GamesBeat reports that Hunziker himself has confirmed he is leaving.

Hunziker had previously spent seven years with Rock Band developer Harmonix as their COO before co-founding his own IP startup, Element Six Entertainment.

There hasn’t been an official reason given for the change, but GamesBeat is describing the move as “parting ways,” so it’s possible that this was mutual. This isn’t the only substantial change that Sony has seen in its management. Longtime Sony exec, Andrew House announced back in October that he too was leaving the company. John (Tsuyoshi) Kodera was immediately tabbed as his replacement.

It remains to be seen how or if the turnover will affect Sony’s third party relations, but for now it looks like the company is back to square one at the position once again.
