Get ready for a mash-up!!! Nintendo is pulling its best Glee/Sam Tsui impersonation and combining two of its franchises into one game. Get ready for Pokémon Art Academy, a combination of the monster-collection rpg Pokémon and the Art Academy game, that teaches players how to draw their favorite Pokémon.
Releasing this fall for North America exclusively on the 3DS and 2DS, Pokémon Art Academy will feature 40 lessons on how to draw, paint and sketch Pokémon characters using the stylus and touchscreen.
Art Academy, which launched for the Nintendo DS in 2009, focused on fine art in its other iterations — not anime. Coming with Pokémon Art Academy are new features like Free Paint — where Pokémon can be created in any style using the full range of the game's tools — or Quick Sketch mode — where players can jump into short, simple drawing and practice their Pokémon sketches quickly.
Again, Pokémon Art Academy will be available on the 3DS and 2DS this fall for North America, with Europe getting it on July 4, 2014.
