Pokémon Bank delayed due to Nintendo Network issues

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company International have decided to delay the western launch of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter due to the issues plaguing Nintendo's online services.

Since Christmas, many of Nintendo's online features — the ability to set up Nintendo Network IDs (NNID) and downloading content in the eShop — have been experiencing problems "due to a large volume of traffic to the Nintendo Network service." Both the Wii U and 3DS have been experiencing these problems.

"Due to the high traffic, players are having trouble setting up Nintendo Network IDs and downloading content in the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS," Nintendo explained in a statement. To help alleviate some of the server stress, Nintendo pulled the Pokémon Bank from the Japanese eShop yesterday, but that doesn't appear to have solved the problem.

"We truly regret the inconvenience, and wish to reassure everyone that providing a solution is our top priority," the company offered. "We apologize for the delay and thank you for your continued patience."

3DS and Wii U owners can track the online status for the Nintendo Network here, but there doesn't appear to be much of a change from yesterday.
