Thanks to Pokemon GO's release, areas that were once forgotten have become places of gathering – specifically parks. The mobile game has been using parks and some highly trafficked areas as hubs for Pokemon and PokeStops.
Someone or a group of "someones" have paid homage to the game in New Orleans, Louisiana. How? Well, the crafty Pokemon lovers decided that a statue of Pikachu was the only way to do it right.
At some point, likely in the dead of night, the fiberglass statue was erected on top of a defunct fountain in the middle of the park. The arrival of Pikachu has had even more people visiting the park, if only to take pictures of the statue that was made to look bronze.
While it's an awesome token to a cultural phenomenon – his face is a bit wonky. Still cool though.
