Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow heading to 3DS next year

Today's Nintendo Direct was almost exactly what we expected it to be — amazing. We got Legend of Zelda news, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon news, and teases for console holiday bundles, amongst other heavy hitters.

Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow are officially coming to the 3DS through the Virtual Console on the same day as the series' launch, February 27, 2016. Nintendo revealed that they did everything within their power to maintain the game's classic feel, while adding a feature that brings it into the new age – wireless communication.

Luckily for us no game link cable will be needed, as the 3DS wireless communication feature will allow you to battle other players and trade Pokemon.
