Nintendo is giving you more ways to power up your Pokemon, as a new round of Mega Stones can now be downloaded and imported into Sun and Moon. To be fair, these Mega Stones aren't new to the Pokeverse; they just weren't acquirable by normal means in the game. Ampharos, Altaria, Latios, and Latias can all now Mega Evolve in Sun and Moon by holding Ampharosite, Altarianite, Latiosite, and Latiasite respectively.
To get the Mega Stones, do the following:
Unfortunately, you won't be able to hop on the backs of Latios or Latias like you could in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, but they will get a pretty nice power boost in battle, giving trainers more powerhouse options for their lineup.
Pokemon Sun and Moon are available now on Nintendo 3DS, while their follow-ups, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon release later this year on November 17th, 2017.
