Pokemon Sun and Moon get a new round of downloadable Mega Stones

Nintendo is giving you more ways to power up your Pokemon, as a new round of Mega Stones can now be downloaded and imported into Sun and Moon. To be fair, these Mega Stones aren't new to the Pokeverse; they just weren't acquirable by normal means in the game. Ampharos, Altaria, Latios, and Latias can all now Mega Evolve in Sun and Moon by holding Ampharosite, Altarianite, Latiosite, and Latiasite respectively.

To get the Mega Stones, do the following:

  • Select Mystery Gift on the main menu.
  • Select Receive Gift.
  • Select Get with Code/Password, then Yes, and then Yes again to connect to the Internet.
  • Enter the password, "DRACHE".
  • Start up your save file.
  • Speak to the delivery person in any Pokémon Center to pick up your Mega Stones.
  • Be sure to save your game or they will be lost forever.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to hop on the backs of Latios or Latias like you could in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, but they will get a pretty nice power boost in battle, giving trainers more powerhouse options for their lineup.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are available now on Nintendo 3DS, while their follow-ups, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon release later this year on November 17th, 2017.
