Pokemon Sun and Moon players can download the first of several special Pikachu starting today

To celebrate the release of Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You, Sun and Moon players will have their pick of one of six special Pikachu that are being given away via download code. Starting today, fans can choose Pikachu wearing Ash Ketchum's original Trainer Hat from his time in Kanto and Johto, and it is available from now until September 25th. On top of that, the Pikachu comes with a set of moves inspired by the ones used in the anime during that time.

To get Pikachu, do the following:

1. Select Mystery Gift on the main menu.

2. Select Receive Gift.

3. Select Get with Code/Password, then Yes, then Yes again to connect to the internet.

4. Enter the code PIKACHU20.

5. Watch the animation, as you receive Pikachu.

6. Head into the game and speak to the delivery person in any Pokémon Center.

7. Be sure to save or you will lose Pikachu forever if you turn off the game.

If you are interested in another Pikachu, you'll have to wait it out a little bit. Here's the breakdown of the remaining giveaways.

• September 19th – 25th: Original hat (Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver)

• September 26th – October 2nd: Hoenn hat (Ruby/Sapphire)

• October 3rd – 9th – Sinnoh hat (Diamond/Pearl)

• October 10th – 16th – Unova hat (Black/White)

• October 17th – 23rd – Kalos hat (X/Y)

• October 24th – 30th – Alola hat (Sun/Moon)

The Kanto/Johto Pikachu comes at Level 1 with a Hardy Nature and Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Thunder, and Agility as its moveset.
