It would seem that Game Freak, developers of the Pokemon games, have just filed for two new trademarks for what could possibly be the names of the respective Legendary pokemon in the upcoming 'Pokemon: Sun' and 'Pokemon: Moon'.
The two names in question read as "Solgaleo" and "Lunaala". These names clearly have connections to the latest titles with their root words 'Sol' and 'Luna' literally translating to 'sun' and 'moon'. Its not uncommon for leaked trademarks for past pokemon games to actually pan out to be true. With the official reveal of the games' content rumored to come next month, its certainly possible this is real and these are the storyline representatives we can expect.
In addition to these two trademarks, GameFreak also filed a trademark for 'Gigareki.'
The only cause for concern in all this is that the names were registered through a private Japanese intellectual property lawyer, Yusuki Inui. Traditionally, Pokemon trademarks properties under the known titles Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokemon Company. This may not mean much in the way of confirming or denying anything, but its likely this won't negate the validity of the reveal in any way.
Pokemon Sun and Moon are expected to release in the fourth quarter of 2016.
