For many trainers around the world, Mew was the first truly elusive legendary as it was also the first to be given away via a Nintendo event. The only other way to get it was by glitching the game, though you needed a buddy, a link cable, and a Pokemon that could use Fly before the game would allow it. Mew was given out at GameStop via code during the month of February this year, but suffice it to say, many people missed out.
If you sign up for the Pokémon Trainer Club newsletter, the June edition will come with a code that you can use to download Mew.
As you know by now, this is the 20th Anniversary of the release of the legendary Nintendo handheld franchise, Pokemon. To celebrate, Nintendo has re-released the three original classics, Red, Blue, and Yellow on the Nintendo eShop which will also be compatible with the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon. They are also running a monthly giveaway that will last through the rest of this year, that began with Mew in February and will end with Meloetta in December.
