Global Missions were not kind to Pokemon Sun and Moon players a year ago, and it doesn't look like that's going to change with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. From November 16th to 11:59 PM on November 27th, trainers all over the world engaged in a Global Mission to capture 10 million Pokemon, but as Serebii points out, the final tally was barely more than half of that, coming in at about 5.4 million.
To be fair, Game Freak was far more realistic with this Global Mission, as the very first one for the original Sun and Moon games called for 100 million captured Pokemon. Can you imagine if they had asked the same this time around? Yikes.
On the bright side, everyone who participated in the Global Mission will get 1,000 Festival Coins as a consolation prize. Hopefully, the second Global Mission has better results.
