Pokken Tournament gets custom Wii U controller

Back when Pokkén Tournament was still exclusively an arcade fighting game, Producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed that the game wouldn't be played the typical arcade way with joysticks – it would be played with a controller.

When the Wii U version of the game was announced, it was unclear whether or not the console version would use a Wiimote, the Wii U Gamepad or the wide handheld arcade controller that featured a D-Pad and four buttons.

According to Nintendo, Pokkén Tournament will be getting a controller for the Wii U, modeled after the arcade controller design. Similar to the arcade controller, the Wii U controller has a D-pad, two bumpers and four main face buttons, but no analog sticks. The controller is not wireless, it's wired,so it won't require batteries or a charger which should make it cheaper when it eventually releases in the West.

Pokkén Tournament is set to release in 2016.
