As Japan struggles through the recent earthquake tragedy that has torn through the country, the gaming world continues to pledge its support through various schemes ranging from fundraisers, shutting off servers, right through to one of a kind items being auctioned off. Now PopCap has joined in the efforts, offering a 99 cent discount on all of their iPhone/iPad games for the weekend with all the proceeds going directly to the Japan earthquake relief fund.
The discount puts iPhone games at $1, and iPad apps at $2. PopCap are the creators of some of the most addictive games in recent memory, such as Bejeweled, Peggle, and Plants vs. Zombies. All three games scored major points on the Xbox Live Arcade and other platforms, so why not grab it on your iPhone to not only kill some time, but pledge support to a much-needed cause.
“We recently opened an office in Tokyo, and while our Japan-based employees are safe and uninjured, we understand countless others in Japan need food, shelter, and medical attention,” said Ellen Marett, Senior Director of Workforce Culture at PopCap. “Given that Plants vs. Zombies reached #1 on the iPhone and iPad sales charts in Japan, it seemed like the most appropriate game to feature in this fundraising campaign.”
The promotion ends at midnight PDT on Sunday, March 20. Games can be purchased through the Apple App store or directly from PopCap.com
