Portable Steam Machine has an official release date and price

The latest handheld device that will allow you to play games on the go, The Smach Zero, has an offical release date and price. The Smach Zero is the Steam version of a PS Vita for all your PC games to be played on the go.

What was formerly known as the Steam Boy, the Smach Zero will launch in the fourth quarter of 2016. You can start pre-ordering the device on November 10 and their has been plenty incentive to do so. The company has stated that pre-ordering the device will ensure you keep a $299 price tag, but if you decide to skip the pre-order, it'll cost a bit more.

The device has 4 GB of RAM, a 720p touchscreen, HDMI output, Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity, and 32 GB internal storage. As a Steam machine, it runs Valve's SteamOS, an operating system designed specifically to run Steam.

The machine is said to be easily capable of running the likes of Half-Life 2, Civilization V, Dota 2, Tropico 5, BioShock Infinite, and Cities: Skylines. Also, if Valve is true-to-its-word, SteamOS users such as owners of a Smach Zero will have the choice of over 1000 native SteamOS games by the time of the big rollout

So will you be pre-odering the Smach Zero? Let us know in the comments below on what you think of the new portable Steam Machine.
