There's still hope for the Portal and Half-Life movies – if Valve's co-founder Gabe Newell is to be trusted.
Back in 2013, we heard that Valve and J.J. Abrams had decided to make movies for two of Valve's iconic game franchises, Portal and Half-Life. Details on the upcoming films weren't spared, we simply knew that in some way they existed. In September 2016, Abrams confirmed that the films were in development and that he hoped there would be an announcement for the Portal film "soon."
Valve's main man, Gabe Newell, hit up Reddit yesterday and answered a bunch of questions that the Reddit community had and one of those questions was on whether those films were still alive or not.
A Redditor asked:
"Wasn't there a movie (or a set of 2 movies) coming in that universe by Valve and JJ Abrams?"
Gabe replied:
"Yep. They're coming."
It looks like we can put these two movies next to the Halo TV series that Steven Spielberg is a part of. You know, that series that was announced in 2013 and is said to still be "alive."
