Post-apocalyptic survival-RPG Chernobylite hits Early Access on October 16

The Farm 51 has revealed that their upcoming survival-RPG Chernobylite is headed to Steam Early Access next month, on October 16. Check out the new trailer to see what’s going to be included with the game when it launches.

Fans of post-apocalyptic RPGs never really had to endure a drought of games in said genre. From juggernauts like Fallout to indie games like Underrail, there’s something about a world in shambles which just lends itself for gaming. Maybe it’s the easy usage of dumb mutated monsters which translates into a game form. Nonetheless, there’s one cult series in the genre which sadly is dead for almost a decade, and which many gamers cerish as one of the best games of all time. We of course are talking about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise.

Ally or compete with other stalkers of the Chernobyl zone to survive. Remember that life is fragile, and it’s your decisions that determine the fate of your companions. You can spend as long as you need preparing, however, be aware that your story is still being written. Every passing moment, your chances of success are dwindling: comrades are dying, supplies are running out, or an unexpected patrol could discover you. And on top of all this, supernatural dangers are arising around you in mysterious patterns. Each day brings new challenges with the ever-increasing severity of your current situation. Plan your strategy carefully if you want to survive.

With the series being on life-support for almost a decade, fans who wanted to experience a similar game were simply out of luck, as no other developer managed to successfully imitate the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. formula. Here’s where Chernobylite kicks in. With an eerily similar setting of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, this self-published title could be the savior of the genre. Especially, since the most recent AAA game in the genre Fallout 76 failed to win over gamers.

With about one month until Chernobylite launches on Early Access, the wait thankfully is not long. Even better, The Farm 51 has released plenty of gameplay videos who showcase the game in action, and what we’ve seen so far looks very encouraging.
