Poster and teaser trailer for upcoming Tomb Raider movie released

With the impending release of the first official trailer, MGM has released the first teaser poster for the upcoming Tomb Raider film starring Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander. The film which is said to be based on the 2013 gritty reboot by Crystal Dynamics, certainly seems to be staying very faithful to the game’s look of Lara, based on leaked photos and now the official poster.

Director Roar Uthaug and team have really paid attention to details from the game by including the taped up bicep and of course Lara’s now trademarked red ice hammer/pick. You can see a comparison in the image I’ve marked up below.

Hopefully, just as much attention has been applied to the movie’s story. As many gamers know, movies made from video games, typically don’t work out sell well, mostly because the stories fall flat.

While Vikander can certainly act, she also has a great personality to add to the role. If they do follow the game closely, Croft is mostly a girl on her own and this may give Vikander some room to really grow as an actress and show off her acting and action skills.

Check out the trailer’s teaser below:

Tomb Raider is expected to release in 2018 and is directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave) and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (upcoming Captain Marvel).
