Pottermore is an Online Reading Experience

Today at 4 a.m. Pacific time, J.K. Rowling revealed the secret of Pottermore. Sorry gaming fans, it turns out it’s not an online game after all. Rather, it’s an online reading experience.

Pottermore is the same story with the addition of you as the reader. You will be able to join a safe, unique online reading experience built around the Harry Potter books.

Fans can share, participate in, and rediscover the story. It is also the exclusive place to discover digital audio books and, for the first time ever, ebooks of the series.

J.K. Rowling also revealed that she will share additional information she has kept secret for years about the world of Harry Potter.

Not all was revealed, however. This October, Pottermore will be open for everyone to experience, but Rowling also hinted that a select few will be allowed to enter early and shape the experience by simply “following the owl.”

You can view the announcement trailer below.

So it’s not an online game as rumors suggested, but this still sounds pretty cool. I wonder how exactly players will get to “shape” the world. I guess I should find that owl!

You can visit the Pottermore website here
