Power Rangers movie gets delayed

It's Morphin' Time!... maybe later...

Last May we caught wind of a Power Ranger movie hitting the big screen next summer, but it doesn't look like Lionsgate will be sticking to the original release date of July 22, 2016. For undisclosed reasons, Lionsgate has delayed the film until 2017.

It's not hard to see why it was delayed, even without an explanation from Lionsgate. The film didn't even have a confirmed director or cast! There were rumors of Dean Isrealite being a potential director, but he was never confirmed.

Jason David Frank — Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger — said the film was to begin filming this year with duo Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class) writing the screenplay. However, with the delay, this doesn't seem very likely at all. Seeing such a big studio take interest in the series is fantastic, imagine the explosions now!

If you can't wait for the film to release, maybe this awesome fan made film can hold you over?
