Power Rangers movie sequel releases next year as a graphic novel

Will serve as a bridge to the next film

Lionsgate earlier today revealed the first look at the terrible new design for Goldar. Now, we have news on the followup sequel to the March 24th film. Published by BOOM! Studios, it's not exactly what we expected as it will be a graphic novel set immediately after the events of the film. We will also only need to wait five days after the film's releases as Power Rangers: Aftershock will land in stores on March 29th, 2017.

There will be two versions of Aftershock, with a comic book cover in comic stores and a movie like cover in book stores. The official description of the film is as follows

This explosive, all-new tale picks up immediately after the events of Lionsgate’s highly anticipated movie, in theaters March 24, 2017. See the film, then deep dive into the continued adventures of Jason, Kimberly, Trini, Zack, and Billy! Written by Ryan Parrott (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Batman: Gates of Gotham) and illustrated by artist Lucas Werneck. Features an exclusive Previews cover edition by Greg Smallwood (Moon Knight) available only through your local comic book shop!

We still have no idea as to the storyline of the film, but have some ideas as to where it could go. The latest image for Rita Repulsa shows her holding her staff emblazoned with the Green Ranger power coin in its center. As the Green Ranger was Rita's creation in the show, a safe bet would be that he's referenced in the film and followed up on in the graphic novel. The end of the novel will most likely lead into the next film, and that could be anything from the Power Rangers universe.

Power Rangers: Aftershock will be 96 pages in length and cost $14.99 at retail. You can see both cover versions below.
