Pre-alpha gameplay leaks of Tom Clancy’s The Division ‘not representative’ of current quality

Ubisoft responds to Tom Clancy's The Division leaks

Last week a data mining Redditor dug through the HTML5 code of The Division's official website and found hidden mention of an Alpha that linked to a website. When the code is no longer hidden there will be an extra part of the sites nav bar will have one extra tab, an Alpha tab

While it's great news that there is an Alpha coming, we haven't seen any official footage of gameplay for The Division since last E3… Note the use of the word official… Footage of pre-alpha gameplay surfaced earlier today and it has already been mostly squashed by Ubisoft (mostly).

The video clip is relatively short and shows off gameplay on the Xbox One. The video was taken off-screen and honestly looks pretty shoddy, but it doesn't take away from the fact we actually see  some of the gameplay mechanics in action.Division

How has Ubisoft responded to the video leak? This is their official statement on the subject:

"These low resolution images and video originate from a pre-alpha test currently organized by the development team to evaluate the server infrastructure in a real world setting. A large portion of the game features have been removed in this build and therefore is not representative of the game's current quality. The team is focusing on providing the best experience for players, and we can't wait to show you more."

Now that the Alpha has been outed… we wait.
