Pre-orders for HTC/Valve Vive VR headset begin this February

In March of 2015, HTC chairwoman, Cher Wang, revealed that HTC and Valve had partnered up to create the Vive virtual reality headset. According to Wang, the Vive headset will be available for pre-order next month, nearly a year since it was revealed.

The Vive headset will be available for pre-order starting February 29th.

The price of the headset has yet to be revealed, but will likely fall into the same price range as the Oculus Rift headset – around $599. Like the Rift, the computer companies like Asus and HP will have pre-fabricated computers that are VR ready and buily to the Vive's specifics.

Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey recently stated that the PlayStation VR isn't as "high-end" as the Rift and that the two headsets appeal to different markets. It will be interesting to see how the Rift and Vive compete once the Vive is available for pre-order.

The Vive is expected to begin making its release in April.
