Pre-orders for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire surpass Pokémon X and Y’s in UK

People just want to Soar.

The last time we heard about the pre-order numbers for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire was that they weren't as high as Pokémon X and Y's were in Japan.

This is no longer the case (at least in the UK), in fact, according to Shelly Pearce of Nintendo UK in an interview with MCV, pre-orders are doing 'really well' in the UK:

“Pre-orders for Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire are doing really well at the moment. It is pre-ordering more than X and Y, so we are quite optimistic about that one.”

Nintendo realizes that a big part of their audience wasn't around for the original Ruby or Sapphire, so they understand that marketing for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire has to be gripping. That doesn't mean that the big N will put more money into advertisements for the games though. Nintendo hasn't spent more on Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's advertisement campaign than they did on X and Y.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire promises some new Mega Evolutions and features (like Soar), but it also promises a free demo (in case the special 2DS bundle wasn't enough – such pretty colors).

Why did Nintendo decide to offer a free demo? Because it works (at least it did with Super Smash Bros.):

“We are finding that the demo versions of things are working really well for us. The Super Smash Bros. demo was really popular and converted lots of people to purchase.”

The amount of pre-orders for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire might spike post-demo (or so Nintendo hopes).
