2019 has been a year of great video games. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, The Outer Worlds, Sekiro, Devil May Cry 5, the list goes on. Up until now, we believed we had gotten the last major titles of the decade but there’s one more left. U.S. Presidential candidate Andrew Yang is getting a fighting game on Steam at the end of the month.
This is definitely one of the strangest games we’ve seen this year but… sure, why not?! Yang 2020: Path to Presidency sees Andrew Yang fighting his way to the position of Commander in Chief, literally. Players play as Yang mercilessly beating politicians like the elderly Bernie Sanders into submission with a Dragon Ball Z-esque art style to match.
The story mode will take Yang on quite the journey where he goes to rallies, appears on podcasts like Joe Rogan’s show, and much more.
“With a compelling story mode, you play as Andrew Yang on the path to presidency! Within the story mode, you will be able to unlock stages and characters to use in VERSUS MODE.”
Players will even go toe to toe with sitting president Donald Trump who has the incredible line of: “Video Games cause violence, and so do I”
It wouldn’t be a fighting game without super moves either. At the end of the game’s trailer, Andrew Yang screams “FREEDOM DIVIDEND!” before shooting a giant burst of energy from his hands. For those not aware, the Freedom Dividend is a universal basic income plan Yang wants to put in place where American adults get paid $1,000 a month until they die.
Yang 2020: Path to Presidency will also have a traditional versus mode where you can play local matches or against CPU. Players can also unlock fighters like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and more. You can view the trailer below.
Yang 2020: Path to Presidency is slated for release on Steam on December 30th, 2019.
