Let's see… how many Halloween-ish ways can I say that Prey 2 is cancelled? It got the axe. Bethesda killed Prey 2. When Prey 2 could have run outside to get away from the slasher Bethesda, it ran upstairs to hide in the bedroom instead.
That's enough for now.
Bethesda vice president Pete Hines confirmed at PAX Australia (to CNET) that Prey 2 is officially cancelled. Originally announced in 2011 as the sequel to 2006's Prey, the story focused on US Marshall Killian Samuel, who was abducted by aliens and went to work as a bounty hunter on the alien planet Exodus.
Since then, it's been in development hell with no real indication of what was going on.
Hines said, "It was game we believed in, but we never felt that it got to where it needed to be — we never saw a path to success if we finished it."
He continued, "It wasn't up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it. It's no longer in development. That wasn't an easy decision, but it's one that won't surprise many folks given that we hadn't been talking about it."
Yea, no one is surprised. Disappointed, but not surprised.
