Hey, more fan war bulletin board material! As if there ever needed to be more. But that's exactly what's bound to come as a result of comments made by Project CARS 2 Director, Stephen Viljoen in an exclusive interview with Trusted Reviews. It's not his fault; it's just the nature of the beast. And in all fairness, it's highly likely that he didn't mean it as a slight, but it's probably going to be taken as such.
When talking about the game's engine, Viljoen commented on how "scaleable" it is, particularly in regards to the PC version. PC Gamers are no doubt fond of their sliders, with which they can customize their own experience based on the hardware they're packing. These are far less important for console players, but it sounds like both Xbox One X, and PS4 Pro players will have some options.
Here's what he said:
"I can’t tell you exactly what all the various sliders will be at when you’re on Xbox One X versus on PS4 Pro, but obviously they’ll be higher [on Xbox One X], so there will be a significant, a noticeable improvement, because you have better hardware."
So just how well will the game run? Well, for starters if you're looking for 4K/60 FPS, console players (including those on Xbox One X) are out of luck.
Viljoen confirmed that the best possible experience with the game is on PC thanks to the ability to "run it on three 4K monitors, and everything set to absolutely incredible detail." He added that doing this "is simply not possible on [this] generation of consoles."
Project CARS 2 releases September 22nd, 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
