After countless rumors of a new more powerful Xbox One, Microsoft revealed Project Scorpio during E3 2016. According to Microsoft, Scorpio will feature eight cores, six teraflops, 320GB/s memory bandwidth, native 4K/VR gaming, backwards compatibility, and will be available in 2017.
After revealing their prospective console, Xbox head Phil Spencer added that wouldn't force developers to hit 4K on the Scorpio. With the reveal of the PlayStation 4 Pro and the realization that many of the "Pro Enhanced" games would be scaled to 4K and not be native 4K, eyes have turned back to the upcoming Microsoft console.
A member of the Xbox community asked Spencer how Microsoft will get developers to design their games to utilize the power of the Scorpio and whether or not games will get patched to make up for the jump between the Xbox One and Scorpio.
According to Spencer, devs are already targeting higher specs with their "PC builds" and publishers make the decision on whether a game gets upgraded or not.
