Soar to the skies on December 1st when Project Wingman finally launches. The promising single-player flight-action game will be available on the PC and even offers full virtual reality support. Enjoy the release date announcement trailer here!
Anyone who follows the indie gaming scene has probably heard of Project Wingman. Its inspiration is as clear as the blue skies, with none other than the cult Ace Combat franchise. But there’s nothing wrong with taking notes from the genre giants. It sure didn’t hurt Genshin Impact.
Now, after years of development by the small indie studio Sector D2, Project Wingman is soon ready to take off. However, unlike a large number of indie game launches, this plane will leave the hangar in perfect condition.
O.K., I’ll stop with the plane puns. But it needs to be noted that Project Wingman will not launch in Early Access. Instead, fans of the flight-combat genre should be excited to play the fully finished game when it launches on December 1st on Steam.
Just like the Ace Combat series, Project Wingman aims to offer an action-oriented flight experience. So, don’t expect DCS levels of simulation and accuracy. Here, it’s all about adrenaline-filled dogfights at blistering speeds.
That’s not to say the game is simple. Quite the opposite. Sector D2 has done its utmost by supporting HOTAS flight stick setups. On top of that, owners of a VR headset can enjoy the entire game in virtual reality.
Ace Combat 7 returned just last year to a bombastic reception. So, it’s great to see the genre slowly rise back after years of middling popularity. Not only that, but with a proper flight-sim also out now with the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, there never has been a better time for fans of flight games.
