With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt successfully released, gamers might expect to see CD Projekt Red go straight to developing and speaking on their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. That is not what CD Projekt Red plans on doing.
In the beginning of the year CD Projekt Red's head of marketing, Michal Platkow-Gilewski assured us that Cyberpunk 2077 would have its time, but the developers were "entirely" focusing on The Witcher 3. The release of The Witcher 3 does not mark the end of that focus.
The remainder of this year and all of next year will be "the years of the Witcher," said chief executive Adam Kicinski to Reuters. CD Projekt Red does see the potential in Cyberpunk 2077, so they won't be abandoning it. "We hope and we are certain that Cyberpunk has even bigger commercial potential. It is too early to talk about it, though," Kicinski explained. This is pretty good news for The Witcher 3 fans since that means the developers will be offering a lot of support for the game for quite a while, but it's disappointing for those eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated cyberpunk RPG.
Expect to hear more on Cyberpunk 2077 in 2017.
