Despite the layoffs that have hit Radical Entertainment, the developer still has plans to release a PC version of Prototype 2.
Following the announcement that Activision had decided to close the studio, Radical took to Facebook to confirm that Prototype 2 will still release on PC on July 24th, but warned that updates may be scarce following the news.
"Thanks again to everyone for the outpouring of support. Just a reminder that the PC version of PROTOTYPE 2 is indeed, still coming on July 24th as planned," the message read, "but please understand that updates/posts to Facebook over the next few days may be a bit light as we gain our bearing after today."
Activision cited lackluster sales of the open world action franchise as the primary reason behind the studio's closing. Despite the "substantial investment", Prototype could not find a broad commercial audience. Radical Entertainment employed around 90 people and while the fate of many are still up in the air, some will continue to work for Activision on different publishing projects.
