PS Plus members in Asia invited to Destiny beta without pre-ordering

PlayStation Plus subscribers who live in certain areas of Asia will have a chance to get into the upcoming Destiny Beta for PS4 and PS3 without having to actually pre-order the game first.

"This exclusive Destiny Beta is only open to Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) members with a valid PlayStation Plus subscription in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia or Taiwan during the beta registration period," PlayStation Asia said.

As detailed on the blog, PS Plus members in the aforementioned regions simply have to go to the Destiny Beta registration page and register some time between July 7, 2014 (16:00 HK Time) and July 13, 2014 (23:59 HK Time). Selected members will receive a voucher code to download the beta via email on July 16. Here's the bad news now: the beta quote is limited to just 5,000 registrants, so you may be better off just pre-ordering the game.

At this point, no similar offer has been extended to PS Plus members in the U.S. or Europe. Though the UK PlayStation Blog posted a similar offer last month, it was later clarified that the only way to access the Destiny Beta in the U.S. or Europe is to pre-order the game.

PlayStation owners will receive first access to Destiny's beta when it opens on July 17; however, it will eventually be open to anyone who pre-orders the game regardless of platform.
