PS Vita’s Uncharted: Golden Abyss “not out of the question” for release on PS4

For all intents and purposes, Sony's PS Vita handheld is in the rearview mirror. Games still occasionally release for it, but none of them are the sort that you can't get anywhere else, or at least eventually. However, one game that the Vita has not relinquished from its small library of exclusives is Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which served as a prequel to the events of the first game, Drake's Fortune. This hasn't stopped fans from asking for a PS4 port similar to Tearaway: Unfolded, and according to Naughty Dog, they aren't against porting it over either.

In speaking with Finder, Naughty Dog's Community Strategist, Arne Meyer said that a PS4 port of Golden Abyss was "not out of the question" but that it's "not entirely up to us" to get it done.

Here's the full quote:

"I think that’s not completely out of the question. I mean it’s not entirely up to us, obviously. I think I was asked this at Eurogamer Expo and Shuhei Yoshida was sitting in the front row and I pitched it off on him and I was like, “you have to go talk to Shu about this,” which is what the case is.
But it’s definitely not out of the question. I mean anything is possible. I know there hasn’t been talk about that recently, but there’s no reason why it can’t happen either."

There was a large contingent of fans that thought that the game might make its way into the Nathan Drake Collection, which released back in 2015, but it never did. For a platform that's more or less dead, if there's a legitimate demand for more Uncharted post The Lost Legacy's release, then a quick HD update to Golden Abyss would seemingly fit the bill.

But as Meyer says, it's not as simple as Naughty Dog wanting to do it, and then getting it done. The studio is currently busy with The Last of Us Part II, and may not feel like the cost of getting Golden Abyss on PS4 will match the payoff.
