Sony has identified the issue with firmware 4.45, which caused a "small number" of PS3 systems to become unresponsive upon updating, and will release a fix for it later this week. The update, released earlier this week, would cause the console would freeze on the dashboard without the XMB menu appearing. In some cases, the PS3 would become unresponsive to the power button.
