Sony released today a new system update (version 4.55) for the PlayStation 3. It's mandatory so you have no choice but to download it.
Sony notes that downloading patch will update your PS3 system's operating system to include the latest security patches, settings, features, and other items. No official notes were posted alongside the update; however, the Japanese arm of PlayStation briefly mentioned that the main function of the update is to "improve software stability."
It's certainly not the most exciting update, but it's mandatory. So go ahead and download it. If you happen to notice anything special as a result of the update, let us know in the comments below.
