At the 27th annual Chaos Communication Congress, an annual meeting of members of the hacker scene, hacker group failoverflow detailed work they’ve done to run unsigned code on the Playstation 3. The hack is currently in a work-in-progress stage of development, but the hope is to get a user-friendly hack ready within the next month or so.
The group found a trick that allowed them easy access to the PS3’s private cryptography key, which allows them to reintroduce Linux into the console, and all kinds of other goodies along with it.
Now the question is, with the hacker group revealing their methods, how long until Sony releases a counter patch?
