PS3 Update 3.42 to Make Pirates Cry

In less than two weeks after their initial hack, it looks like Sony has managed to do the unthinkable. Win yet another battle against piracy. Creating a mandatory update to all PS3s, Sony has stopped all of the current hacks preventing players and users from “jailbreaking” their PS3s.

Originally released by an Australian pirate crew whose profits and efforts were discovered by Sony, the new 3.42 firmware update was claimed to be a minor update that included additional security features. Since the update is mandatory, any player wishing to play a game over the PlayStation Network will be forced to update rendering any uses of a hack useless. Sony: 1, Pirates: 0.
