Playstation 4 users who spend just as much time on their consoles streaming videos as they do playing games will be happy to hear a new licensed media remote control is in the works.
Peripheral maker PDP is set to release a new PS4 remote sometime this October priced at $30. The new control features all the buttons you'd typically find on a household remote, including Playstation buttons that make it easier for gamers who like to double their consoles as Blu-ray players and Netflix streamers.
The added bonus is the remote will also serve as an all-around media control with the ability to program up to four supported devices including televisions, DVR's, and other receivers. It's said to boast a 6-month battery life using two AAA batteries; which already beats using wireless PS4 controllers with "full" charges.
I love my PS4 and use it for all kinds of goodies including streaming Netflix/Hulu when the wifey is home. As a remote alone, it may not have sold me, but the all-in-one aspect definitely gets my attention as our living room setup has a few remotes in play during one sitting. It'd be nice to consolidate.
