PS4 hacked to play Pokemon Emerald, SteamOS should “just work”

SteamOS is next

Hackers have been doing their best to hack the PlayStation 4 since its release, and it appears as though some have finally managed to bypass the console's security. Last month, a hacker that goes by the name CTurt had claimed to have found an exploit hidden in firmware version 1.76 on the PS4.

Hacking group Fail0verflow have taken the recent hacking breakthroughs and brought a custom version of Linux to the console – which the have made publicly available on Github.

What did they do with this new found power? They put a modded bersion of Pokemon Emerald on the PS4 and renamed it Pokemon PlayStation Version.

Fail0verflow went on to say that the Linux-based SteamOS could work on the PS4,  "Yes, SteamOS on the PS4 should “just work” once the driver issues are sorted out."
