PS4 is bringing back the PS1-era Crystal Controllers later this month

PlayStation gamers will be getting some new controller options later this month, the PlayStation Blog announced. "Translucent DualShock 4 controllers" are coming exclusively to select retailers to the US and Europe and are reminiscent of the Crystal controllers that released on the original PlayStation. The controllers come in three different colors, and each one will be sold exclusively at a particular retailer.

Here are images of the controllers:

Crystal Controller – Will be sold at GameStop (EB Games in Canada)

Blue Crystal Controller – Will be sold at Walmart

Red Crystal Controller – Will be sold at Best Buy

Sony did not give an exact release date for the controllers, saying only that they will release "later this month," but the pre-order pages on Best Buy and GameStop (Walmart doesn't have it up) give two different dates of September 25th and 30th respectively. Technically both qualify as "later this month," but it seems unlikely that each controller will release on different dates.

But then again, stranger things have happened.
