While, Sony has confirmed the existence of the next iteration of the PlayStation 4 console, codenamed Neo. They haven't revealed much on it, apparently they are letting the leaks and rumors do the leg work for them. The most recent rumors have put the new console's release in October of this year, which means that we should be hearing about the console any day now.
According to a Tokyo based Wall Street Journal (via NeoGaf) journalist, Takashi Mochizuki, Sony will be revealed Neo in September during Tokyo Game Show. However, contrary to popular belief, we won't just be seeing the reveal of Neo, but the PS4 Slim as well.
The details around this have not been confirmed by Sony, by Mochizuki is reporting that the information is based on the recent Sony investors meeting and the reports from Macquarie Securities analyst Damian Thong. It appears as though Sony is planning on shipping 20 million PlayStation 4 units during the current fiscal year, with the help of Neo.
Sony declined to comment on the possibility of a PS4 Slim.
