PlayStation 4 pre-orders are currently outpacing the Xbox One in the United States, according to "early data from major online retailers" which was dug up by IGN. The site doesn't mention any specific numbers or name any retailers, but the data allegedly shows consumers pre-ordered "approximately three PS4 units for every two Xbox One consoles during the period between Monday, June 10 to Wednesday, June 12."
Without any specific numbers or sources it's hard to tell exactly where the data came from, however. For all I know, IGN pulled these numbers out of their ass and slapped on a headline; although, I will say when polling the E3 crowd, the majority of attendees did seem to be in favor of the PS4.
Funny enough, both consoles have similar strategies when it comes to pre-owned games. It just so happens Sony knows how to spin it in a much better way.
