PS4 pre-orders no longer guaranteed for launch in the UK

Sony has reportedly confirmed that PlayStation 4 pre-orders in the UK no longer guarantees you'll receive a console at launch.

The news comes via UK retail giant ShopTo who wrote, "Sony have confirmed all PlayStation 4 pre-orders placed from 6th August will now not be guaranteed for launch. You can still pre-order PS4 with us in case we receive cancellations and can fulfil your order for launch."

According to Eurogamer, the message from Sony applies to all European retailers, not just ShopTo. Amazon in the UK also followed with a similar message:  "Please note – due to high demand, orders placed for the PlayStation 4 console from 6th August may be received after release date. We will ship orders as soon as we receive sufficient inventory."

Here in America we've yet to receive notice, though the PlayStation 4 launch edition is currently sold out on Amazon. It is still available at GameStop, however. Sony has yet to confirm a release date for the PlayStation 4, choosing only to tease a "holiday" release for the highly anticipated system.
