It's no secret that the PlayStation 4 has been selling extremely well since its launch last November. The PS3 had a pretty good run too last generation. The Vita, well, Sony typically shies away from revealing the system's sales, but the handheld system is believed to be a disappointment for the most part. But all together — their powers combined — the PS4, PS3, and Vita have sold over 100 million systems to date.
The staggering number was revealed in a video geared toward third-party manufacturers who may have interest in creating peripherals for Sony's systems. Unfortunately, the video doesn't break the number down by specific system sales, but we have a general idea based on previously announced sales.
In April, we learned that the PS4 had sold over 7 million units. The last number heard about the PS3 came in November, when Sony announced it had sold over 80 million numbers. It gets a little trickier after that since Sony doesn't typically announce sales for the redheaded stepchild of the family. Taking into account PS4 and PS3 sales over the past few months, I think a safe estimate is around 10 million Vitas sold.
The point is, the PlayStation ecosystem is doing well. Quiet well. You can check out the promo video below.
