2014's PC exclusive The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was previously announced to be heading to the Playstation 4, but today its release date was officially confirmed (via VideoGamer) on the Playstation Store as July 15. Developer, The Astronauts teased back in late June that the release was "mere weeks…not months" away.
After receiving near unanimous praise to the tune of a score of 82 on Metacritic, the game has consistently been a focal point of Steam and GOG sales over the last year.
The game is a first-person, narratively driven adventure game and tells the story of Private Detective Paul Prospero who has the ability to commune with the dead as he takes on a case to find a missing boy while unveiling the mystery behind a dark and ancient force that inhabits the area. Exploration and discovery are the primary game mechanics behind The Vanishing of Ethan Carter so Playstation users with an affinity for mystery and horror will have a lot to look forward to with this one.
