Sony today announced its new line of new mobile devices: the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, and Z3 Tablet Compact. Though I'm not much of a phone/tech guy, the most interesting announcement to me is that all three devices will support Remote Play with the PlayStation 4, similar to what is offered through the PS Vita.
For those unfamiliar, Remote Play functionality, currently only supported through the PS Vita, allows you to play PS4 games on the screen of your mobile device as opposed to the traditional television screen, provided they are on the same Wi-Fi network as your console. You're essentially running the game on your PS4 while streaming the picture to your mobile device's screen.
I know what you're thinking: how are you possibly going to play console games on a device with no buttons? For that, Sony recommends using the newly introduced GCM10 Game Control Mount, which plugs into your mobile device for use with the PS4's official DualShock 4 controller.
All three Z3 devices are launching later this autumn, with Remote Play functionality being introduced in November. Sony added that it has "no intent" on bringing Remote Play to anything other than Xperia devices.
